Protecting GPT prompts
realistic expectations
If someone can use your GPT, they can try to reverse-engineer it. Prompt secrecy alone is not a complete security model. The strongest protection is controlling access.

What you can protect
- Who can use the GPT: access control
- How often it can be used: usage limits
- Whether access can be revoked: enforcement
What is hard to protect
Anything delivered to a user can be copied. That includes output text and general behavior patterns. The goal is not “perfect secrecy.” The goal is “secure access with controlled usage.”
The practical strategy
Focus on an enforcement layer first. LockedGPT is a platform designed specifically to secure, control, and monetize access to custom GPTs using real API-based enforcement. Once access is controlled, you can add additional safeguards.
